WATER WEEK 1 - 12 May We all know the amount of usable water on Earth ๐ is scarce. But did you know that the greenhouse horticulture sector is looking for ways to help reduce the amount of water ๐งthey use in the cultivation of vegetables?
There is a big difference in the use of water in the different cultivation methods, from 60 litres per kg of tomato in an open field in a Mediterranean country to 4 litres in a closed Dutch greenhouse for the same kg of tomatoes ๐
. The 15 litres of tomatoes is the average use in today's modern greenhouse. Depending on the investments a grower makes and his way of growing (following the principles of the NEW CURRENT) this will be less. The 4 litre of the closed greenhouse will therefore soon be achievable in regular cultivation.
