RELEASE: Codema's new partner Nordian Capital helps achieve ambitions

Codema ready for further growth and internationalisation

Codema is going to realise these ambitions with a new partner: investment company Nordian Capital. The management of the company, with CEO Marcel Koolen, CFO Lennard van der Ham and CCO Gideon de Jager, remains unchanged.

The world's population is growing rapidly: by 2030 there will be around 8 billion people on earth and by 2050 there will be 9 billion (by comparison, by 1950 there will be 2.5 billion people in the world). This poses major challenges for all of us. Efficiency and sustainability will therefore be the keywords in the food production of the future, also within the greenhouse horticulture sector. Codema expects autonomous greenhouses and remote growing to help achieve breakthroughs to feed more people, increase food security, and produce more food with fewer resources such as water and energy.

Accelerating international growth
Codema is convinced that high-quality cultivation systems and solutions can help to achieve this efficiency and sustainability goal. The company, which offers total solutions for efficient and sustainable horticulture, wants to play a role in this and in this way contribute to a healthier and more sustainable world. Professionalisation and internationalisation are therefore the spearheads for the coming years. "Codema has already experienced significant growth in recent years, but now is the time to speed it up further," emphasises CEO Marcel Koolen. "We want to strengthen our position as an integrated system integrator and take steps both nationally and internationally. Codema is already active abroad and we want to establish ourselves permanently in several places around the world in the coming years. We will take the first steps in this strategy by opening branches in German-speaking countries as well as on the continent of North America and Asia.

New partner
Codema has found the right partner to realise the outlined ambitions: as of 1 September, Nordian Capital will participate in Codema Systems Group. Together with Gideon de Jager and Marcel Koolen, the private equity investment company takes over the shares of Maarten de Jager, which Codema set up and developed over the past twenty-four years to where it now stands. “

In the first instance, we looked for a party that can help us to accelerate our growth ambition and that is able to offer proactive support in the field of mergers and acquisitions. At the same time, Maarten de Jager was prepared to reduce his share capital in order to give room for further growth and to be able to realise developments. In that sense, all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place," says Marcel Koolen. "Nordian Capital is the ideal party for us to take this new direction and live up to our ambitions. This independent Dutch investor specialises in and has a great deal of experience in increasing and accelerating the global growth of companies.

In short, we are on the eve of a new era. CODEMA. Building a better Tomorrow.
